Europe for Citizens - European remembrance 2018
The project is focused on the collective memory issues concerning the Prague Spring and the year 1968 in different parts of EU. Its main aim is to cross the national/state boundaries in perception of the recent European past, to show the events in a wider European perspective, as well as to appeal to the remembrance of the year 1968 as a part of the common heritage of civil society in Europe. One of the project´s particular goals is to create a collection of unknown photos from local communities and a corpus of oral history video interviews with people who could share their story from everyday life. Not only the key events, the most famous people and the well known photographs but also the smallest details of personal life can be important in the mosaic. In engaging the public expert lectures, youth discussions, photo exhibitions and film showings will be organized.
Comenius University in Bratislava is the oldest and the largest University in Slovakia (around 27.000 students). Faculty of Arts is the largest among the 13 faculties of the CU. Besides the educational and scholarly activities the Faculty of Arts and its Department of Russian and East European Studies engages also in various public projects with international participation: conferences, open lectures, presentations, meetings, workshops, exhibitions, film festivals. Role of Partner organsation in the project: Possibilities of participation: historical research, contacting the people to be interviewed for corpus of the oral history interviews, filming, organizing project public activities (exhibitions, lectures, film showings) on local/regional level.
